After Effects Warning: Error Parsing Properties List

Most motion graphics designers, animators and visual effects artists, who use After Effects regularly, must have sometime encountered horrific nightmares with their software. Adobe After Effects is as fragile as a brittle glass. Once it crashes, it is not going to get back on its track.

Parsing properties list is an error usual occurs when the software was not quit properly. Solution is pretty simple. All you have to do is delete the after effects application data files.

On Windows Vista

C:\Users\* Username* \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\9.0

Change * Username* with your account username. The version number 9.0 can change according to your software version.

On Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\...

Delete all the files and folders in this folder or you could just move them to some temporary location for backup. After deleting run After Effects and it should start. It will re-create all the files and it will be like the day you installed the after effects, with all default settings.

DVD/CD Drive disappeared suddenly from Windows Vista

I heard from many people that their DVD/CD drive have disappeared from My Computer.I started getting lots of queries last month on this.So here the tech solution to get back the CD/DVD drive in Windows Vista.

Create a file fixcd.txt and add these line to it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Then rename it to fixcd.reg and execute it by double-clicking.Restart and watch for the DVD/CD drive magically reappear.

Installing telnet on Windows Vista

• Open control panel
• Go to programs
• Click Turn windows features on or off
• Tick mark Telnet client and sever

It will take some time to install.

Increase Windows Vista trial period to 120 days(legal to do so)

Now Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Vista can be used and run for 120 days or 4 months (3 rearms), and extending the activation grace period is not a violation of the Vista End User License Agreement (EULA). All versions of Vista include Windows Vista Ultimate allow a 30-day free period without activation, except the corporate-oriented Vista Enterprise, which supports only a three-day trial.

To extend, reset or restart the initial OOB grace period of Windows Vista to another 30 days, use the following steps:

1. Start command prompt with administrator privileges(run as administrator)
2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command

slmgr -rearm

or you can use sysprep /generalize

3. Reboot the computer.

4. Rearm again when the remaining activation grace period timer counts down to 0 days.

Rearm option resets the computer’s activation timer and reinitializes some activation parameters.

Super administrator account in Windows Vista unlocked

Inside Windows Vista,an administrator account exists just like Windows XP.It is not part of administrator group.But it is a super administrator account,just like root in unix.It is disabled and kept hidden.Microsoft doesnot discloses this for security reasons.Infact Microsoft said Windows Vista doesn`t have any administrator account like Windows XP.

Also you will see that this account is not subjected to User Account Control like other normal administrator account.You will not see any UAC prompts while making changes to the system.

So how enable it.Let me start:-

Run command prompt(run as administrator)

Type the following commands
Net user administrator /active:yes

Now you will an administrator account on your login screen

To disable it,use this command Net user administrator /active:no
